«Kris Wong is a freelance art director and designer residing in San Francisco, CA.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was inspired by his natural surroundings. His passion for surfing and beach culture led him to designing t-shirts for local surf companies such as Hawaiian Style and Local Motion. After his aspirations of surfing all day to become a professional surfer slowly faded, he went to school to get serious about his career as an artist.
After receiving a BA in interdisciplinary visual arts at the University of Washington in 2005, Wong pursued a BFA in graphic design at Art Center College of Design where he had the privilege to gain the wisdom from legendary designers Lou Danziger and Roland Young, among many others. Halfway through his education he discovered motion graphics and fell in love with the process of working with time as a medium.
From 2009 to 2011, Wong freelanced for a handful of companies as a designer and animator in Los Angeles, including Mirada, Brand New School, Laundry, Logan, and Buck. The work ranged from interactive, network branding, commercials, and music videos.
Wong became a staff art director at Brand New School in 2012. Since then, he has worked with a wide range of clients, including Apple, Sprite, Visa, Nasqaq, Whole Foods, Matel, and Halls. He has had the opportunity to direct live action commercials and lead teams of incredibly talented designers, animators, compositors, and specialized artists from all over the world.»©Kris Wong
