Astrid earned a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, graduating with a First Class Certi?cate in the year 2000. This was followed by a Master of Arts at the Royal College of Art. She graduated with Distinction for her written dissertation on book cover design through the work of Andrezj Klimowski, Irene von Treskow and John McConnell. Her graduating degree project (later distributed worldwide by Miquelrius), the Art of the Grid Notepads and Shelving Units, brought her work to wider attention, being lauded by a host of design glitterati, earning column inches in both the design and mainstream media and winning countless awards worldwide. The notepads, who have been exhibited in museums across Europe and the United States, are now considered a design classic.
Astrid is a contributing editor of Elephant magazine, and writes for specialised journals including Elephant, Gra?k, Creative Review and Étapes. She has been a visiting professor in editorial design at IDEP Superior School of Design (Barcelona) and lectures internationally. Her work has been widely published and exhibited and has received over one hundred creative awards. Astrid has been Jury member in several national and international design competitions including Laus and D&AD. She is co-founder of the publishing house Infolio, specialised in books on graphic design and the visual culture.
