Form\u00e9 aux Beaux-arts de Rouen et \u00e0 l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie Ranson de Paris, il s\u2019int\u00e9ressa d\u2019abord \u00e0 la peinture et la sculpture, puis \u00e0 la restauration des monuments historiques. C\u2019est apr\u00e8s la guerre -durant laquelle il int\u00e9gra un mouvement de R\u00e9sistance-, qu\u2019il\u00a0 fut engag\u00e9, en 1954, par la c\u00e9l\u00e8bre fonderie Deberny &amp; Peignot. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 Adrian Frutiger, il devint <strong>\u00ab\u00a0dessinateur de caract\u00e8res\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong>, une profession alors rendue essentielle par l\u2019essor de la photocomposition. Adaptant d\u2019abord des caract\u00e8res existants \u00e0 cette nouvelle technologie, il en cr\u00e9a rapidement de nouveaux.
